Here’s good news for former OFWs!
If you are an ex-OFW, you may be able to take advantage of OWWA’s Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay Program (BPBH Program).
This particular program aims at supporting former OFWs or returning OWWA members whether active or non-active who have failed to complete their contracts due to reasons beyond their control.
How It Works?
Instead of providing a one-time cash assistance, this OWWA program focuses on helping the former OFW start his or her own business.
The Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay Program not only provides free entrepreneurial training but also a ‘business starter kit’ worth Php 20, 000.
OWWA aims at teaching ex-OFWs to become their own bosses, for them to learn the value of self-reliance and interest in growing their own business, making the most of the revolving capital that OWWA will be giving, instead of them seeking livelihood outside the country.
There are other OFW Loan Programs and Livelihood Assistance that OWWA offers for other OFWs, we shall be discussing those in other posts but this particular BPBH program is open to Ex-OFWs who were not able to complete their contracts due but not limited to the following reasons:
- The ex-OFW has to come home due to war, hostilities or political conflicts in the host country.
- The former OFW needed to come home due to policy reforms or changes by the host government.
- The former OFW was a victim of illegal recruitment.
- The foreign employer was forced to let the OFW go due to the financial difficulties of their company.
- The ex-OFW experienced maltreatment by the foreign employer forcing him/her to quit his job.
To be able to qulify, the ex-OFW must have applied for the BPBH Program within one year of his/her return to the Philippines.
How to Apply for the BPBH Program?
Visit the nearest OWWA Regional Office so you may be able to accommplish the needed forms.

After receiving your application, an overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA personnel will qualify you for the BPBH Program.

I got home last august 2 2016,because of malicious ..and maltreatment abuse of my employees.. I got a bigasan before…but my colleague with the same case tell me that we are still able to have that balik pinas balik hanapbuhay program….

Ano po Yong requirements ng balik pinas livelihood program?
Kelan po namin makukuha yung 20k, qualified na po kami at May 31, 2018 kami nag seminar tapos na din po C.I namin. Maraming salamat po!
Di kayo patas. Ex ofw naman din kami at wala din kaming makuhang magandang trabaho dito sa pinas bakit di kami kasali sa programa nyo kelangan lang yung mga di nakatapos ng contrata. Napaka di naman patas ng gingawa nyo samin.
